Claremont Farm - Home of Wirral Food and Drink Festival, Claremont Farm has long had the reputation of being one of the best Farm Shops in the region but now they’ve gone national! The Guardian announced it to be one of the top pick your own sites in the country and the Sunday Mail awarded it to be one of the best Farm Shops in the country. Well done the Pimbley’s!

Clowning Around - Are asking all the children of Wirral, to create a Clown out of as much fruit and vegetables as they can get their hands on and enter their wonderful creation into our ‘Clowning About’ Competition. The winning entry will have top Wirral chef Julian, visit the winners school and demonstrate some very exciting recipes. To enter, bring your Clown creation to the Wirral Food and Drink Festival, donate a pound to Claire House Charity and then leave the very difficult task of choosing the winner to us.

Mawsons Traditional Drinks
The story of Mawsons Sarsaparilla begins in 1933, when milkman Joe Mawson came to Oldham and bought a herbalist shop. The back room of his shop became the place where the seed was planted for the now award winning traditional fizzy drinks company. His son, Nigel Mawson now runs the business and we are lucky enough to have their award winning sarsaparilla, cream soda and dandelion and burdock at the Festival this year.

Something Special From The Festival

Easy peasy pastry!
If you struggle with pastry making, try this one – it has never failed me. I normally use it for little appetizers but you can easily replace short cut pastry or sweet pastry recipes you have.

To make twelve appetizers you will need: 150g Cream Cheese, 180g Plain Flour and 60g Butter –diced. If you fancy something sweeter add a little sugar to the mixture and use salt free butter.

If you have a food processor simply place all the ingredients in the bowl and blend until it forms a soft paste. If not - rub the butter through into the flour so that it looks a little like breadcrumbs, then add the cream cheese to bring together the pastry. Roll the mixture out and cut into shape required, put a tea spoon of you filling into your case and bake in a 180 oven for 10 minutes.

Little Tip: To be a little less naughty, use low fat cream cheese and low fat butter.
